Bianca Otto and her business, Silver Chalk Design Studio

Bianca Otto started Silver Chalk Design Studio in January 2012 after being retrenched a week before going on maternity leave. Bianca knew that she would struggle to find a new job that would allow her to also spend time with her newborn, and just six months after her son’s birth, she took control of her destiny and started her own business. As a single mother at the time, she wanted to be there for her son, but needed an income.

Since then, Silver Chalk Design Studio has grown in leaps and bounds. They moved into their first office space in 2014 and had to relocate due to growth in 2015. Since they started they have been privileged to be the preferred design studio for companies like Digital Cloud situated in Midrand, Heiton situated in Pretoria, Minuteman Press in Pretoria, Hosting 101 to name but a few. They have also helped build company brands such as Clientscape that was a Nedbank Small Business of the Year finalist.  They have been privileged to work on small local company projects and also big corporate clients like Alcatel, Assupol, Meditech, Lafarge and even SASOL to name but a few.

In 2014 they launched their Intern project, which aims to offer graphic design students the much-needed experience they require to finish their studies and find work in the industry.

During 2015 they launched a Social Media Training program focused on helping small business owners utilizing social media effectively for their companies and getting much needed new business.

Bianca is also focused on social responsibility and this year, Silver Chalk Design Studio have partnered with an engineer that has developed an improved cost effective feminine hygiene product that will greatly improve a lot of woman’s lives and they are hoping to get funding soon to assist in distributing it to disadvantaged communities that REALLY need it.
